Why glasses go out of alignment

Frames live a hard life. They get pushed up onto your head, dropped on nightstands, folded one-handed, and left in hot cars. Acetate softens and reshapes with heat, metal temples slowly bend, screws loosen, and nose pads splay. None of this means your frames are failing — it means they’re being worn. But even a millimeter or two of drift changes how your glasses fit and, more importantly, how well you see.

A poor fit isn’t just uncomfortable — it affects your vision

Prescription lenses are made to sit in a precise position in front of your eyes. When frames slip or tilt, the optical center of the lens moves away from your pupil. The result can be subtle eye strain, headaches at the end of the day, or the nagging feeling that your prescription is "off" when it’s really the fit that’s off. Progressive lens wearers feel this most: the reading zone in a progressive lens is small, and a sagging frame can put it in the wrong place entirely.

An adjustment at Precision Vision typically takes just a few minutes. We check the frame alignment against your face, re-contour the temples so they follow your ears without pressure, reposition nose pads for even weight distribution, tighten every screw, and true up the frame so both lenses sit level and at the right distance from your eyes. We’ll also give your lenses a proper clean while we’re at it.
